AMTRA - Fees List
The fees that most people pay AMTRA are listed in context on the Becoming an SQP and Veterinary Nurses pages.
However, there are less common fees: here is the full list, valid from October 2011. These fees are subject to review at any time.
Unless otherwise stated, these fees are zero-rated for VAT. Where VAT is referenced, it is at the current standard rate, i.e. 20%.
All payments are subject to AMTRA's standard terms and conditions: in particular all enrolment fees are inclusive of the exam fee only on condition that the exam is sat within 13 months of enrolment. If the exam is sat after that date, an additional fee may be charged to reflect increases in AMTRA's costs.

Enrolment fee: new SQP - Veterinary Nurse conversion
C-SQP including VN conversion: £250
E-SQP including VN conversion: £306
K-SQP including VN conversion: £337
R-SQP including VN conversion: £352
Other SQP types (i.e. those which don't involve companion animals) are not available as VN conversions.
Enrolment fee: new SQP - NCAH/MAH conversion
For those holding the NOAH Certificate in Animal Health (formerly the AMTRA MAH qualification) to become an R-SQP: £465.
Note: this is more expensive than registering as an SQP from scratch because of the fee paid to Harper Adams University College for their Assessment of Prior Learning (APL), and because there are not economies of scale because of the unusual nature of this conversion. It does, however, mean that the person in question is not required to do all of the exams that a new SQP from scratch would have to undertake.
SQP exams at separate sittings
The normal enrolment fees shown above assume that all the modules and viva (oral) exams are taken at one go.
For those choosing to take their first attempts at multiple sittings: £100 per additional sitting
SQP re-sits
For SQP candidates making a second or subsequent attempt at any of the SQP modules involved in their original enrolment:
one module: £160
two modules: £230
three modules: £300
four modules: £364
viva (oral): £60
Veterinary Nurse conversion re-sit: £160
Note that these fees are more expensive that the first attempts since they don't include the funding from the Higher Education Funding Council which subsidises the original fees but which is not available for reassessments.
Additional SQP modules ("upgrades")
For those SQPs who are adding modules to those chosen when making their original enrolment:
Adding the Farm Animal module: £200
Adding the Farm Animal and Equine modules: £230
Adding the Farm Animal and Companion Animal modules: £230
Adding the Equine module: £160
Adding the Companion Animal module: £160
Adding the Equine and Companion Animal modules: £185
Adding the Avian module: £160
Note that these fees don't include the funding from the Higher Education Funding Council which subsidises the original enrolment fee but which is not available for subsequent modules.
SQP annual renewal fees for 2012
When paid by 30 November for the following year:
SQPs qualified to prescribe and supply farm animal medicines: £62.92 + VAT = £75.50
Other SQPs: £43.33 + VAT = £52.00
A 5% discount is available in 2011 to individuals and smaller companies using the online payment system and to larger companies managing their renewals in bulk.
SQP reinstatement fees
For those paying in January to March: 110% of the renewal fee
For those paying in April to September: 150% of the renewal fee
For those paying in October to December: 150% of the renewal fee plus the following year's renewal fee
Those seeking reinstatement after more than 6 months off the SQP Register will be required to demonstrate that they have kept up to date, either by having gained their full current CPD points obligation within the last 24 months, or sitting and passing the "CPD exam".
Examination centre application fee
The fee to apply for approval as an examination centre is £200 + VAT, plus travel and accommodation costs of the member of Harper Adams University College staff who will visit the site. Please contact us for further information if you are interested in applying to become an approved examination centre: we are not actively seeking new centres at present as there is a good spread across the country.
